Integrating publisher resources in Blackboard

Publisher resources are made available for many key academic texts and are used in a number of academic contexts.  In this presentation, Rachel Lander, Course Leader for MSc Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Westminster, describes how integrating publisher resources into Blackboard can support independent learning.  She also talks about the challenges integrating publisher resources can have, particularly with regards to student motivation and student IT skills.  Rachel says:

“I have used a Wiley publication with publisher resources that include text, comprehensive exercises for both theory and practical work, and multimedia support material to teach Business Process Integration and SAP software to Masters students.  A similar module with the same publisher resources will also run next year at Level 6.  This presentation covers the range of resources and the challenge they present in designing an appropriate pedagogy for supporting students both in the labs and in their independent learning, particularly motivation concerns.  I’ll also briefly address the issues I’ve come across that are more basic on I.T. usage that students needs to know before they get to Blackboard!”
